Surviving - Art in Israel after October 7 with Dr. Matt Reingold

For a country as small as Israel, there is a very large community of professional and semi-professional political cartoonists. This session will introduce learners to these Israeli artists by exploring cartoons produced after October 7. By exploring recent artwork, we can gain insight into how Israelis are creatively expressing their grief and horror alongside their visions for the future of their country.

Bio:

Dr. Reingold teaches at TanenbaumCHAT in Toronto teaching courses in Jewish history, Israeli history and culture, and Jewish philosophy.

He received his PhD in Jewish Education from Toronto's York University in Jewish education and arts-based learning, Israel education, and Jewish and Israeli comics, cartoons, and graphic novels. He is the author of four books about Jewish and Israeli comics and the co-editor of a volume about teaching Israel. His website: www.mattreingold.ca
